After solid-waste pickup issues have plagued parts of Cordova, East Memphis and Hickory Hill for weeks, the city of Memphis debuted a new contractor Friday.
Team Waste, a regional collection contractor, picked up some trash in what is known in Area E on the city s solid waste map, the city confirmed Friday. The city sent a notice to residents in that area Thursday that said Team Waste would be attempting to catch up on pick-up.
That came after the current-soon-to-be-former contractor, Waste Pro, publicly broke up with Memphis after the city notified it that it had breached its 4-year, $33 million deal with the city.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Government buildings located in Downtown Memphis will be closed Tuesday due to ongoing water issues.

Juvenile Court | 616 Adams Ave.
The administration says it will monitor the situation closely and issue an update on reopening on a day-to-day basis.
