Sheldon, Illinois
Sheldon is a village in Sheldon Township, Iroquois County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,070 at the 2010 census, down from 1,232 at the 2000 census.
Geography
Sheldon is located in eastern Iroquois County at
40°46′15″N 87°33′53″W. U.S. Route 24 runs along the northern edge of the village, leading west 9 miles (14 km) to Watseka, the Iroquois county seat, and east 6 miles (10 km) to Kentland, Indiana. U.S. Route 52 intersects US 24 along Sheldon s northern border, leading north 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to Iroquois and east with US 24 into Indiana.
According to the 2010 census, Sheldon has a total area of 0.75 square miles (1.94 km
2), all land.

HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) A 38-year-old woman from St. Clair, MI, and her 4-year-old daughter were hurt when their sled crashed into a tree, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael VandenBosch.
The crash happened at Van Buren Street Dunes Sunday morning, Jan. 17, 2021. Port Sheldon Township police used an ATV to rescue the woman. She went by ambulance to an area hospital with injuries police characterized as serious, but not life-threatening. Her daughter was treated at the scene for what police called minor injuries.
The woman and her daughter had been visiting family members in the Holland area, according to VandenBosch.

Monroe County man, seriously hurt and trapped in pickup after crash, dials 911 for help

Harlow Osteboe called 911 and notified the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office about the crash and that he was trapped inside his pickup, which was lodged against a tree. (Monroe County Sheriff s Office).
SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Wis. (WKBT) A Wilton, Wis., man suffered serious injuries about 10 a.m. Thursday when his vehicle rolled over after hitting a patch of ice on Mead Avenue in Sheldon Township and struck a tree.
Despite his injuries, Harlow Osteboe was able to call 911 and notify the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office about the crash and that he was trapped inside his 1997 Ford pickup, according to the sheriff’s office.
