Sea of Blue to participate in fallen Webster officer s funeral

BOSSIER CITY, La. A Sea of Blue is expected to participate Thursday and Friday in the visitation and celebration of life services for a Webster Parish law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty Friday night.  Visitation for the family of 53-year-old Sgt. William Billy Earl Collins Jr. is for 5 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Bossier. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the church.  Law enforcement services on both sides of the river and from beyond are expected to take part in both.  Since the services will take place in Bossier Parish, the sheriff s office is working with the Webster Parish Sheriff s Office and other agencies to coordinate their participation to honor Collins.

(KSLA) - A man from Bossier Parish has been arrested after allegedly being found with images of child pornography. The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office says Roger Johnson, 26, has been charged with five counts of possession of child pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13. He was booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility. His bond is pending. “Our detectives will not let up,” said Sheriff Julian Whittington. “We know this type of criminal behavior is happening all over our country, but we will not tolerate sexual abuse of children here in Bossier Parish. Our team of detectives are specifically trained with state-of-the-art forensic technology to find and capture these criminals.”

Bossier Parish sheriff warns of scam

BOSSIER CITY, La - Bossier Parish Sheriffs Office reports a scam in which some residents are receiving phone calls from people claiming there is a warrant for their arrest, and all they have to do is purchase a pre-paid debit card to avoid going to jail. “This is nonsense and not the way the sheriff’s office operates,” said Sheriff Julian Whittington. “It’s so unfortunate that scammers continue to prey on the fear of folks with the threat of jail time. Our deputies are not going to call you to say you owe money and tell you to send it in.”

(KSLA) - Since 2015, the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office has raised more than $11,000 for the Salvation Army, including more than $2,000 in 2020. Twenty deputies and staff members with BPSO once again dressed up in Santa hats and rang tiny red bells just ahead of Christmas to raise money for the Salvation Army. They stood in front of the Kroger on Airline in Bossier City on Dec. 18 and raised $2,278.91. “To raise this kind of money requires tremendous support from a lot of people,” said Sheriff Julian Whittington. “From the person who gives change in their pocket, or one dollar, or those who give more, your generosity is so appreciated and is going to do some great things to help others.”
