Officials with Sheridan County School District Two sent correspondence Tuesday afternoon to parents of students within the school district that stated “the district has recently experienced small concentrations of positive COVID-19 cases at both Highland Park and Sheridan Junior High School.” The school district in the release, said schools are conducting contact tracing with the guidance of local health officials and requiring close contacts of positive cases to quarantine for 7 to 10 days.
At the time the correspondence was sent, the School District said there were around 50 individuals at each school that have been quarantined. The email states that “individuals who choose to wear face coverings and/or are fully vaccinated are not required to quarantine.”
Sheridan County high school graduates can celebrate the big event with a “Night in Vegas” next month at the Early Building on the Sheridan Junior High School campus.
The event is Project Graduation, and Sheridan’s Kiwanis Club will be hosting it this year. Kiwanian Jennifer Kahm said Project Graduation was started by the Harper family about 25 years ago as an alternate way for youth to celebrate their commencement from high school.
The event will be on May 30, the day of Sheridan High School graduation ceremonies, starting at 9 p.m. But Kahm said all Sheridan County graduates are invited, regardless of what high school they graduate from.

TikTok Teacher Branded as Racist For Taking Student s Durag

A junior high teacher has been slammed online after footage surfaced of her mocking a Black student s durag she had confiscated earlier in the day.
Wyoming middle school teacher Mariah Webb was initially called out on TikTok by a popular Black creator who goes by the name Aunt Karen. On Tuesday, Webb posted a since-deleted video holding up a durag and making fun of the item. Things that my kids bring to school that I get to confinscate, she says, misstating the word confiscate. Looks like pantyhose! She ends her video by putting the durag on her head while making a face.
