Winter storms nearly always hold at least a few surprises, and Sheboygan County was the recipient of just such a surprise on Tuesday. What was expected to be a moderate snow event turned into a substantial storm, sending vehicles off slippery roads into ditches, and prompting snow removal crews into high gear.
Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works reported that 18 pieces of snow removal equipment had already plowed over 1,200 lane miles between the early morning start of the storm and mid-afternoon. At times, the report said, snow was covering streets as fast as they were cleared, and crews were busy into the night plowing the neighborhood streets. However, no snow emergency was needed.
