Mid-Michigan man charged after threatening to shoot Democrats at Biden inauguration

OWOSSO, MI An Owosso man has been charged after police say he threatened to shoot Democrats and other individuals in the nation’s capital during the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
Richard Maurer, 65, was arraigned Jan. 22 in Shiawassee County District Court on a single count of false report or threat of terrorism, a felony charge that carries a potential 20-year prison term.
Owosso Public Safety was informed Jan. 16 that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking into Maurer who police say made threats against individuals in Washington D.C, police Chief Kevin Lenkart said.
