Kidnappers demand N10m ransom for abducted Chinese nationals

Abductors of Chinese expatriates kidnapped at a gold mining site located at Okepa/Itikan village, Ifewara, Atakumosa West Local Government Area on Monday demanded the sum of N10 million ransom.
Vanguard had reported that Messrs Zhao Jian, 33, and Wen, 50, were kidnapped by gunmen, who invaded the mining site around 4 pm after shooting two of the private guards at the site.
Police spokesperson in Osun State, Yemisi Opalola on Wednesday while featuring on a private radio station, Rave FM talk show in Osogbo disclosed that the gunmen are demanding N10 million for the release of the victims.

The Osun state All Progressives Congress, (APC) Elders’ caucus has prevailed on the state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to sheath their swords in the collective interest of the party.
This is as the media aides to Ogbeni Aregbesola, Sola Fasure during a talk show on Rave FM, insisted that the Minister statement about killers joining the party is an open one and was never directed at anybody.
`He added that Aregbesola only advised against giving up the party to miscreants capable of derailing its progress.

Oyetola approves N708 million for pension

In an effort to improve the welfare of passive workers in Osun state, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has approved the release of N708 million to offset pensions arrears.
A statement issued by the state Head of Service, Dr Festus Oyebade disclosed that the sum of N508 million was approved for the payment of retired civil servants, while an additional sum of N150 million was approved for the payment of retirees under the contributory pensions scheme.
He added that an additional N50 million was approved for the payment of gratuities of retired officers under the old pension scheme.
