Castello del Poggio, the Piedmontese label behind America’s favorite Italian Moscato and sweet red, has undergone a stylish new makeover as the Zonin-owned brand prepares to hit the million-case mark in the U.S. in 2021.
“Depletions in 2020 were up +30% over the previous year,” reports Shawn Balzano, national sales director at 1821 Fine Wine & Spirits, the Zonin family’s U.S. import arm.
In addition to its best-selling Moscato, the Castello del Poggio line-up includes a DOCG Moscato d’Asti, a new delle Venezie DOC Pinot Grigio, Extra Dry Prosecco, Rosé and two red blends: Templar’s Red and Smooth Red which has experienced more than 50% growth in the U.S. over the course of 2020.

Proemio is a family-owned, boutique winery led by third-generation Mendoza-born winemaker, Marcelo Bocardo. Proemio means “Prologue” in Old Medieval Spanish; the winery has been certified Organic since 2017 and is also certified as a Fair for Life company.
