APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Arizona fire crews say a body was found in a mobile home fire near Signal Butte and University Drive west of Apache Junction on Tuesday morning.
Rural Metro Fire, Mesa Fire, and Superstition Fire and Medical had responded to reports of a fire in the area and found flames and smoke engulfing multiple buildings. The property was heavily burdened with vehicles and debris, said Shawn Gilleland with Rural Metro Fire.
Firefighters reportedly had to deal with a large amount of flammable and hazardous materials while putting out the flames.

CAVE CREEK, Ariz. Today is Wildfire Community Preparedness Day!
To help raise awareness, local firefighters teamed up with local organizations to help protect a Cave Creek family’s property.
Upwards of 50 volunteers turned out to remove excess vegetation and clear debris. They created what s called a “defensible space,” the key to protecting your home from wildfires.
“So when we talk about that, we’re asking people to create about 30 feet of buffer away from their home, said Shawn Gilleland, the public information officer with Rural Metro Fire. What that does is it gives firefighters the opportunity to get close to the home and defend against the fire.”

Agencies help family prepare for wildfire season
CAVE CREEK, Ariz. - A team of first responders came together to support a Cave Creek family that is trying to recover following the Ocotillo wildfire last summer but now they re better prepared for the next fire to come their way. That was tough. This family lost quite a bit of their property to the fire itself. They also did lose a building at the back of their residence. But it was just another thing that added to things they already had going on in life, said Shawn Gilleland of the Rural Metro Fire Department.

Fire crews around Arizona are preparing for a potentially busy fire season.
In the Valley, fire crews are bracing for when a large brush or wildfire could break out. Like a lot of agencies across the Valley, we re preparing for what could be another very bad fire season, said Shawn Gilleland with the Rural Metro Fire Department. There s still a lot of dry brush out there.
Cave Creek is one of the areas hit hard last year, with the Ocotillo Fire and East Desert Fire both sparking within a couple weeks of each other.
