Your New Moncton City Council

From City of Moncton Facebook page. It appears that the next Moncton City Council will feature a handful of new names and faces. While the election results remain unofficial for the time being, results from Elections NB indicate there will be five new City Councillors for the Hub City. Mayor-elect Dawn Arnold will spend another four years representing Moncton after defeating Erik Gingles. The two seats for councillor-at-large will be filled by Monique LeBlanc and Marty Kingston. Leblanc previously  represented Moncton East as a member of the Liberal Party and Kingston is a former play by play Announcer for the Moncton Wildcats.

Deputy Mayor Shawn Crossman Reoffers For Ward 1

Shawn Crossman is seeking his third term on Moncton City Council. A lifelong resident of Ward 1, Crossman has been a busy member of council, serving on committees for the Irishtown Nature Park, Poverty and Social Inclusion, Downtown Moncton Centre-ville inc and several other organizations. It has also been a productive eight years with projects that include saving the East End Pool with a $2-million municipal budget, a new fire station for Caledonia Road and a new water pumping station on Elmwood Drive. If re-elected he plans to continue to add to his resume with increased infrastructure improvements, new recreational projects for Ward 1 and municipal support for the construction of the new Hospice Southeast New Brunswick facility on Pleasant Street.

Patrick Richard Running For Ward 1 Councillor

Patrick Richard announced his bid for Councillor of Ward 1 in Moncton. Born in Moncton, Richard had previously planned to run before the pandemic started. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree focused on business management, political sciences and sociology from l’Université de Moncton, and a Human Resources Management Certificate from the University of New Brunswick. Richard’s priorities include: Encouraging business growth and recovery from the Covid19 pandemic Establishing a strategy that addresses homelessness and public safety  Promoting environmentalism as well as our green spaces Highlighting heritage, arts and culture. Since 2017 Richard has been putting his knowledge of economic development to use with Opportunities NB, at the Moncton regional office.
