FN 509 Compact builds on the legacy – and growing popularity – of the platform that was originally designed in 2015 to compete in the Army s Modular Handgun System program. While the Pentagon ultimately went with Sig, the extensive R&D led FN to release the 509 to the commercial market in standard, Tactical, MRD, Mid-Size, and LS Edge variants since then. The FN 509 Compact utilizes the same million round research the company put into their entry to the MHS competition that is used by the rest of its family. F.I.R.E. Expo: Florida s SHOT Show The F.I.R.E. Expo (Florida’s Firearms Industry Range Expo) in Immokalee, Florida, came to life at a place called the Force Center shortly after the NSSF canceled the in-person SHOT Show experience this year. The sprawling complex is located on the grounds of an old prison complex and had the facilities and space to put on another expo. In November, after NSSF s announcement, Shane Netherton, the organizer of F.I.R.E. Expo, jumped into action with the goal of creating an event that welcomed the public and gun media alike to shoot cool guns and revel in community. Within three months, they assembled an expo that aspires to be the SHOT Show of the East.

Introduced last year, the Franchi Momentum Elite rifle family continues to grow in 2021 with the introduction of three new chamberings and a new hunting camo pattern. New calibers include .300 Win. Mag., 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) and .350 Legend for state hunting regulations calling for straight-walled hunting cartridges. The newest camo pattern available is Sitka OPTIFADE Elevation II complemented by the Cobalt Cerakote barrel, receiver and bolt handle.
