A woman in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region who raised 28 orphans from Shanghai in the early 1960s was made an honorary citizen of the city on Wednesday.
Duguimaa, now 79, who raised the children when she was an unmarried 19-year-old herdswoman on the grasslands until adoptive parents were found, received the honor from Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang.

The city’s top political advisory body concluded its annual session yesterday afternoon.
The four-day Fourth Plenary Session of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee at the Expo Center passed a report on a proposal reviewing its works and some other resolutions.
Dong Yunhu, chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee, took the chair for the closing meeting which was also attended by Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang, Mayor Gong Zheng, Jiang Zhuoqing, director of Standing Committee of Shanghai People’s Congress, and Shanghai Vice Party Secretary Yu Shaoliang.
