A jury has found footballer Jack de Belin not guilty of a sexual assault charge - but failed to reach a verdict on five further counts.
Judge Nicole Noman discharged the Sydney jury after they failed to break a deadlock on the remaining charges just before 3pm on Monday afternoon.
That means the suspended St George Illawarra forward, 30, and his friend Callan Sinclair, 24, face the prospect of a possible third criminal trial.

The jury in the rape trial of footballer Jack de Belin and his mate Callan Sinclair has reached a unanimous verdict on one of the six charges.
But the NSW District Court has heard the 12 jurors definitely can t reach a similar unanimous decision on the five remaining counts against the pair.
At about 1pm on Monday, Judge Nicole Noman ordered the Sydney jury to try and reach an 11 to 1 majority verdict on the outstanding charges.

A jury has retired to consider its verdicts in the trial of NRL footballer Jack de Belin, who denies raping a woman with a friend after a pub crawl in 2018.
The St George Illawarra forward, 30, and his friend Callan Sinclair, 23, have both pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault, saying their encounter with the then-19-year-old in a North Wollongong unit was consensual.
The Sydney District Court jury began deliberations on Monday morning, following 13 days of pre-recorded and live evidence in which the woman testified she left a bar with the men under the misapprehension she was heading to another bar.

A detective investigating Jack de Belin s rape case willfully lied giving evidence in the NRL star s first trial, a jury has been told.
De Belin s lawyer David Campbell SC described the officer s conduct as a gross departure from his job by not taking any notes of the first 90- minute conversation he had with the woman making the allegations. You knew full well as a police officer, your obligation is to make a record of a complaint received from a citizen, Mr Campbell said on Monday.
