New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday took suo motu cognizance of the alarming situation in connection with various health emergencies including oxygen shortage, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and issued notice to the Centre seeking a response on kinds of immediate and effective action it can take to handle such situation.
A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde and also comprising Justice L Nageswara Rao and Justice S Ravindra Bhat, took suo motu cognizance of the deficiency of oxygen, medicines, improper treatment and other related issues of COVID patients.

New Delhi [India], April 20 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court s order to impose lockdowns in its five cities, on the ground that such kinds of decisions are not in the domain of the High Court.
The bench, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde, decided to hear the matter today at the end of the board. Complete lockdown was imposed for a week in many cities in Uttar Pradesh. Considering the urgency, in the matter, please consider it for hearing today, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said.

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court’s order to impose lockdown in its five worst COVID-19 affected cities.
The state government said that such decisions are not within the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde has decided to hear the matter at the end of the board today.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, “Full lockout was done for a week in many cities of Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier last week, the Allahabad High Court had directed the Uttar Pradesh government to consider implementing tracking, testing and treatment facilities as well as complete lockout in the most affected districts.

New Delhi [India], April 20 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted an interim stay on the Allahabad High Court order directing the Uttar Pradesh government to impose strict restrictions till April 26 in five cities in view of the COVID-19 surge.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde stayed the implementation of the order on an urgent mention made by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. We stay the order (Allahabad High Court s), a three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde and also comprising Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian said.
