Tributes for Accrington primary school headteacher Jack, who loved football and playing piano TRIBUTES have flooded in for retired teacher Jack Cavannagh of Accrington, who passed away on February 20 at the age of 85. Jack was a devoted husband to the late Olive, a loving father to Lance, father-in-law to Sarah and a cherished grandfather to Laura and James. He was also a dear brother to Ian and Irene and a good friend to many, especially Marguerite. Born and bred in Accrington, Jack was a talented drawer who started his working life as a draughtsman. However, he moved into teaching in the 1960s, and never looked back.

PUBS AND restaurants who have lost out during what is normally the busiest period of the year are offering take-away Christmas dinners in a hope that customers will support them while they remain closed due to tier 3 restrictions. The hospitality industry has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, with much of East Lancashire s hospitality having taken a big hit with many areas including Blackburn having been under some form of restrictions for the majority of the year, banning people from meeting people from other households. This has meant that people have frequented bars and restaurants more than normal as they have not been able to enjoy them for social occasions, other than with their households.
