Bellingham Police booked Lester Robert Olson, 38, into Whatcom County Jail Wednesday, Feb. 3, on suspicion of second-degree assault of a child, and jail records show he was released Thursday on $10,000 bail. Officers responded at approximately 6:38 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, to St. Joseph hospital to investigate a reported assault of a child, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email.

The Whatcom County Sheriff s Office booked Dawson Denis Patrick, 30, into Whatcom County Jail Wednesday, Jan. 13, on suspicion of residential burglary and second-degree possession of stolen property. On Saturday, Jan. 9, deputies were called to the 8000 block of Pony Express Way in Maple Falls after a neighbor, who had been asked by the home s owner to watch it, saw a male park a car in front of the home, Chief Deputy Kevin Hester told The Bellingham Herald in an email.

Jan. 9 Ferndale police arrested a Whatcom County man suspected of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl with whom he was familiar. Victor Anthony Martinez, 59, was booked into Whatcom County Jail Wednesday, Jan. 6, on suspicion of first-degree child molestation. Jail records show Martinez is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Police were contacted after the girl reported being touched in a sexually inappropriate way by Martinez, city of Ferndale spokesperson Riley Sweeney told The Bellingham Herald in an email. A subsequent forensic child interview corroborated the victim s statement and police arrested Martinez at approximately 4 p.m.

Jan. 1 A Bellingham man is suspected of removing a car seat with a 3-month-old boy in it and hurling it into a parking lot during an argument. Bellingham Police booked Daniel Lee Svege, 29, into Whatcom County Jail Wednesday and he was charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment, harassment and fourth-degree assault. Jail records show he was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. Officers were called at 3:44 p.m. Dec. 23 to the Bakerview Fred Meyer for a welfare check following a 911 call by a woman who said a man was trying to kidnap her, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email. The 911 dispatchers reportedly heard a man shout get out and the woman say guess he is going to let us go.
