Welcome folks to the 2050 Olympic Games!
What a thrill for our hometowns of Northbrook and Glenview to be named hosts of this year s Summer Olympic Games, beating out more traditional venues like Athens, Greece; Sydney Australia; London; Tokyo; Beijing, China, and the Netherlands.
Not to mention our own country s contenders like Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans and New York City. Even Chicago lost out.
We certainly want to extend a warm welcome to all the incredible athletes from around the world, and hope they all enjoy their stay at our Olympic Village, which will be located on the spacious grounds of Covenant Retirement Assisted Living Facility in Northbrook.

When they joined the Barrington Boat Club a few years ago, however, they received what Jim Sincox called the best of both worlds.
The boat club business model, which rapidly expanded into McHenry County as interest in boating surged amid the COVID-19 pandemic, offers members the chance to take out one of a fleet of boats whenever they would like, while the club staff handles the maintenance, cleaning, repair and storage of the vehicles.
Even before he was ordained a priest, the Rev. Ronald Lange was sent to Ghana by his Catholic religious order in 1968.
In a profile by a community newspaper years later, Lange spoke of his commitment to learning about Ghana while teaching at schools there and leading a parish with more than a dozen worship sites.
“The people are just so happy to see you,” Lange, a member of the Society of the Divine Word’s Chicago province, based near Northbrook, was quoted as saying. “You don’t even have to be a good priest.”
And he wasn’t, as his order now acknowledges.
