Pleasant Hill stadium latest approved in Des Moines metro May 13, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail PLEASANT HILL, Iowa (AP) The Pleasant Hill City Council has approved site plans for a new multimillion-dollar stadium the latest in a spate of such facility plans across the Des Moines metro area. The proposed 6,200-seat Pleasant Hill multi-use stadium would be used by Southeast Polk High School football and soccer teams, and plans include a state-of-the-art locker room, rooftop plaza and a pedestrian underpass entrance, WHO-TV reported. It would join other facilities, such a 6,000-seat, nearly $9 million stadium building in Johnston in 2017 and a just-built stadium complex at Waukee Northwest High School that includes two tennis courts, two baseball and two softball fields for a $22 million total. The Des Moines Public Schools district also has broken ground on a shared 4,000 seat stadium with Drake University for $19 million.

Kinship Brewing Company

Kinship Brewing Company is Waukee’s all-in-one brewery. Imagine a place where you can bring your dog, park your bicycle, eat fresh food, view original artwork, enjoy live music and drink craft beers, all in one location. Look no further than the Kinship Brewing Company in Waukee. Kinship opened up New Year’s Day of this year in a 6-acre lot just off the Raccoon River Valley Trail and a quarter-mile from Hickman Road. The brewery’s owner, Zach Dobeck, hails from Atlanta, Georgia, but his wife, Ann, is originally from Waukee. Three-and-a-half years ago, he set a goal to open not just a brewery but also a place for people to connect in the community.

Waukee nears completion of new Northwest High School

Waukee nears completion of new Northwest High School Sarah Kay LeBlanc, Des Moines Register Almost every feature of the upcoming Northwest High School in Waukee was built with expansion in mind.  When it opens in the fall, it will immediately house 1,300 10- through 12-grade students. The building can easily fit 2,000 students, though, the district s Chief Operating Officer Kirk Johnson said, and within a couple of years, it will have to.  For the last several years, the Waukee school district has been growing from the bottom up. This year s graduating class is about 780, but the new high school wasn t built for them. It was built for the 1,000 first-graders coming up through the ranks of the district and with the expectation that the district will add more than 3,000 students over the next five years.
