The president of Wauwatosa s police union is demanding an apology from Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride, after McBride stated the police union is a problem during a recent radio interview.  The incident is another example of the uneasy relationship between the Wauwatosa Peace Officers Association and elected officials in the last year which was exacerbated by the July 2020 suspension of former Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah and the recent unrest in the city. It s the latest in a seemingly endless back and forth between the two entities.  After Mensah s suspension by the Wauwatosa Police and Fire Commission, the police union has sent several letters to McBride and the common council, condemning actions taken by the city to address Mensah and policing in the city.
