Gardeners can get the growing season off to a good start with upcoming plant sales featuring perennials, vegetables, native and organic plants. It is also a good way to support local nonprofit organizations.
Arlington Heights
• The Arlington Heights Garden Club will host its annual plant sale from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, on the grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont St., Arlington Heights.

Some evergreens planted in Illinois are native; others are not. Many like those at Lyons Woods in Waukegan were planted long ago as part of an evergreen tree nursery.
