DAYTONA BEACH As national retail and restaurant chains flock to this city s fast-growing LPGA area, Vittorio and Catarina Tiano quietly opened their new eatery on West International Speedway Boulevard in January. If this location (at One Daytona) didn t pop up as being available, we probably wouldn t have opened a second location, said Catarina Tiano. She and her husband also run a Tiano s restaurant that opened in 2009 next to New Smyrna Beach Municipal Golf Course.
The new Tiano s across from Daytona International Speedway is one of a handful of new stores and restaurants that have opened along ISB in recent months.

FEDERAL WAY, WA Macy s has announced that they will be closing 36 stores by the end of the first quarter, including the Commons at Federal Way.
The closure is part of a broader move by Macy s to close 125 locations over a three-year period, according to USA Today. The move represents about a fifth of Macy s remaining stores. Already Macy s closed 30 stores last year as part of the three-year plan.
As USA Today reports, this week Macy s named several dozen stores which will be closing by April 30. That list includes the Federal Way store. The only other store closing in Washington is in Northtown near Spokane.
Macy s to close store at Daytona s Volusia Mall by end of April
DAYTONA BEACH Struggling department store chain Macy s Inc. on Wednesday confirmed that it will be closing its longtime location at Daytona Beach s Volusia Mall by the end of April.
It s the second major big box retailer at the mall to close in the last two years, following the closure of Sears in 2019.
Macy s has been one of the enclosed mall s anchor tenants since the 1980s. It will be one of 45 locations that Macy s has decided to shutter by the end of April. I m saddened, said Marion Bacon, a Daytona Beach resident who has been a regular customer at the Volusia Mall Macy s for more than 25 years. She said she and her neighbor, Anne Granfors, try to visit the store at least once every other week. I like their clothes and their sales. That s why we re here today.
DAYTONA BEACH His arms laden with three big Victoria’s Secret bags, Antonio Taddeo was among the early-birds on Saturday at Volusia Mall, where shoppers were hitting the stores on the final big weekend before Christmas Day.
Like many of them, Taddeo, 44, was balancing the necessity of adhering to health guidelines related to the coronavirus pandemic with the desire to keep his holiday shopping traditions.
“I don’t want to go near anything,” Taddeo said of his concern about the virus. “I do most of my shopping online, but it’s Christmastime and there’s something about going out and getting stuff.”
