Since reaching an agreement with Volusia County in June, conditions at Journey s End Animal Sanctuary are continuing to improve, according to county officials and those involved with the nonprofit. I can honestly say that it is my professional opinion that there is an increased quality of life and welfare for the animals, but there are still additional actions that need to take place to ensure continuity of care long term, Adam Leath, the county s animal services director, said in a phone interview.
Most notably, the cleaning and sanitation at the facility has improved, Leath said.
Journey s End also has reduced the number of animals on the property as required by the settlement.

In an update from Volusia County Animal Services, Miracle is reportedly doing well in his foster home. Animal Services has filed a petition for custody for Miracle. A hearing is scheduled for the end of the month, and the court will decide custody. Should the court grant Animal Services custody, the foster family has already expressed interest in having Miracle be part of their forever family!

The German Shepherd that survived an horrific incident of animal cruelty is getting a Christmas miracle . the pooch will spend the holiday in a loving foster home in Florida.
The dog, which Volusia County Sheriff s officials appropriately named Miracle, is being cared for by a foster care individual who kindly offered up their home . according to Volusia County Animal Services director

Miracle was in Animal Services custody after her owner,
Allison Murphy, was arrested after police body cam video showed her throwing the dog off a second floor, motel balcony during an interaction with Sheriff s deputies . but we re told Animal Services didn t want the pooch to live in a cage so they found her a temporary home.
A Florida woman has been arrested after attacking a maid and throwing her German shepherd off a motel balcony.
The incident occurred at about noon on Dec. 14 when the Daytona Beach Police Department received a call from staff at a Motel 6 reporting that a woman had attacked one of the motel s maids and had been standing over a railing and threatening to jump off of the motel s second-floor balcony.
When deputies arrived, however, the suspect, 35-year-old Allison Murphy, was locked inside of her room.
In police body camera released by the Volusia County Sheriff s Office, authorities can be seen knocking on the door several times in an attempt to coax Murphy out of the motel room when the door suddenly swings open and Murphy comes out with a leashed German shepherd, which she immediately picks up and throws over the railing to the ground.

By the time police arrived, Murphy was locked inside her room.
