A 35-year-old woman attacked a motel maid and then threatened to jump over a second-floor railing, according to a news release from the Volusia County Sheriff s Office.
But after a sheriff s deputy knocked on her motel room door, she walked out and tossed her dog over the railing instead, the sheriff s office said.
The dog was not seriously injured and has now been renamed “Miracle.”
And Allison Murphy was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and resisting an officer with violence, both felonies, according to the release. Murphy, whose last known address was in Clearwater, was being held without bond Tuesday at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Motel staff had called cops reporting Murphy attacking a maid and was threatening to jump from the second floor, the sheriff’s office said.
By the time cops arrived, Murphy was locked inside her room.

Volusia sheriff s deputies and Daytona Beach Police responded to the Motel 6 located at Tomka Farms Road and International Speedway Boulevard yesterday (December 14) around noon after getting reports from motel staff that Murphy attacked one of the maids and was threatening to jump off her second-floor balcony. When law enforcement arrived, Murphy was locked in her room. While deputies were knocking on the door, Murphy walked out to the balcony with the dog on a leash, which she picked up and suddenly threw over the railing to the ground. The dog landed on her feet and tried to run off but was captured by bystanders. Murphy was taken into custody immediately, Volusia County Animal Services took
