Health Department Offering Free COVID Vaccines In Daytona Beach

Apr 30, 2021 | 2:23 PM Daytona Beach, FL - As the Volusia County Fairgrounds COVID-19 vaccination site winds down, the City of Daytona Beach announces that the Department of Health (DOH) is offering free vaccines weekly at two locations. Vaccinations begin Monday (May 3) and will be offered at the DOH’s locations at  421 Keech Street and 1845 Holsonback Drive. At Keech Street, vaccinations will be available every Monday & Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. At Holsonback Drive, vaccinations will be offered on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and on Thursdays from  8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. An appointment must be made in order to receive a vaccine. To make an appointment, call (386) 274-0500 and press #. You must also bring a photo ID with you when you go. At this time there is no timeframe on how long this site will be open.

Taking the vaccine to the people

Those vaccinated are now no longer required to wear masks when doing the following: Walking, running, hiking or biking outdoors alone or with members of their household. Attending small outdoor gatherings with fully vaccinated family and friends. Attending small outdoor gatherings with a mixture of fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

COVID-19 vaccines winding down at fairgrounds

After operating for over three months and providing more than 74,000 vaccines, COVID-19 activities at the Volusia County Fairgrounds are beginning to wind down. The last day for first dose vaccines at the site will be Friday, April 30, and second dose vaccines will be provided as scheduled through Friday, May 28. “When vaccine efforts started in January, the partnership between the county and Department of Health to provide vaccines at the fairgrounds was a vital step in ensuring our residents had the ability to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Volusia County Public Protection Director Joe Pozzo. “I’m encouraged that vaccine supply is now meeting demand and that vaccines are available at many locations throughout the county.
