Column: District 518 extracurriculars to start again on Jan. 4

Winter activity schedules will be updated in the next few weeks on the ISD 518 website Written By: Josh Dale, District 518 | 10:40 pm, Dec. 18, 2020 × WORTHINGTON Independent School District 518 will resume in-person, grades 7 through 12 extracurricular activities starting Monday, Jan. 4 in accordance with Minnesota Emergency Executive Order 20-103 issued by Gov. Tim Walz. The Big South Conference will work within Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) bylaws to reschedule events that were postponed due to the pause. MSHSL requires each sports team to have a set number of practices before competition. Winter activity schedules will be updated in the next few weeks on the ISD 518 website and can be found under the “Activities” tab on the home page. The activities department will work with our coaches to communicate when and where each sports team will practice on Monday, Jan. 4. Changes from in-class learning to a hybrid model to distance learning have forced educators to switch up lesson plans and engage students through the most impersonal of means a computer screen.
