The council has spoken out to quash rumours and also to confirm that an independent trust will be set up to take over the running of the assets as part of its cost-cutting Localism agenda. It follows criticism of the plan from local community groups, who raised concerns over the future viability of such a trust, and from district MP Mark Garnier, who described it as a dumb idea .

Richard Yardley, of Cakebole Lane, was fined £500 after being prosecuted for filling in six metres of the Elmley Brook and installing a culvert on his land, increasing the risk of flooding and potentially damaging the ecology and biodiversity of the area. Wyre Forest District Council lodged legal papers against Mr Yardley under the Land Drainage Act on January 22 this year. The case was brought after a senior officer from the North Worcestershire Water Management team visited the site in October 2019 and discovered that Mr Yardley had covered over part of the stream without consent from the council.

Photo from Google Maps A PLOT of land in Kidderminster has been changed from employment use to a travellers site in the council s Local Plan after questions were raised by the Planning Inspectorate. Land at the rear of Zortech Avenue is now listed to be removed from the green belt and used to provide additional pitches for gypsies and travellers. Wyre Forest Council s Local Plan, which outlines plans for future development sites, is currently being examined by Planning inspectorate Mary Travers, who initially raised questions in July over the out-of-date evidence used to decide how many travellers sites were needed in the district.

Jamie Shaw, 69, Stourport A FORMER Stourport councillor and leader of Wyre Forest District Council has admitted making indecent photographs of a child. Jamie Shaw, 69, who served as leader of the council for eight years in the 1990s, pleaded guilty to the crime at Worcester Crown Court on September 11 last year. Shaw, of Heightington Place in Stourport, was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months. The offence was committed in Stourport between January and July 2018 - during which time he was serving as Labour ward member for Areley Kings and Riverside on the district council.
