Tucson family involved in deadly Rocky Point crash over 4th of July weekend

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) â What was supposed to be a fun Fourth of July weekend in Rocky Point turned into a tragedy for a Tucson family, after a deadly car crash.
Now, they find themselves buried in medical bills.
Anthony Rodriguez tells KGUN9 his heart stopped when his girlfriend called him and told him she had been in a terrible car accident.
âWe were supposed to have a good 4th of July and take our son to the beach.and just enjoy being a family and..I just canât believe everything that happened this weekend,â said Rodriguez.

Banner opens new children’s cancer center

TUCSON (KVOA) – Diamond Children’s Cancer Center opened its doors on Wednesday and began treating children with cancer and blood disorders.
This $3 million clinic is the new home for pediatric oncology and hematology treatment, and an outpatient location in Arizona.
The center provides treatment, consultation, and follow-up services for children and young adults up to 29 years, who have cancer or blood disorders. Other services that will be provided pediatric infusion therapy, immunotherapies, pediatric hematopoietic transplant and cell therapies, pediatric hematology services, and pediatric oncology services.
Additionally, to cancer care, the center has inventive research through clinical trials.

âFortunately, the kids we are seeing who do get sick generally do quite well,â said Dr. Chan Lowe, the division chief of pediatric medicine at Banner Diamond Childrenâs Hospital. âItâs really kids of all ages. Iâd say we are seeing some newborns, but that is probably a smaller percentage. The biggest group we are seeing is in that sort of single [to] older digits; 8,9,10,11-year-olds. Certainly, we are seeing some teenagers as well.â
