Heading to the Isle of Wight through Portsmouth? A new speed limit will be in place. From January 1, new speed restrictions will come into force on a major mainland route to the Isle of Wight. Part of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum s traffic management plan, to deal with freight vehicles heading to Portsmouth port, all vehicles will be limited to 40mph on part of the M275. The motorway is used, among other traffic, by people heading to the Isle of Wight via Wightlink s car ferry. The forum says, at certain times the M275 area of the city will be busier than normal.
