Do you recognise these West Wycombe scenes from the 1900s? This week for Then and Now, we are looking back at the village of West Wycombe from the late 1800s and early 1900s. This first photo shows the famous pedestal at the junction of the A40 and the A4010 to Princes Risborough, with West Wycombe Hill in the background. It was taken circa 1895.
THEN: This second photo, from circa 1905, shows the brick and flint features known as the ‘Pepper Pots’, on each side of the bridge in Chapel Lane. The features are still there, but the road has changed immensely over the years.
