Fundraiser launched in memory of much-loved Chester mum-of-three

Karen Bowdler, 52, from Waverton, sadly died last year having bravely battled against breast cancer since 2017. Ahead of the 12-month anniversary of her passing, her husband Jason and their children – Joe, Sam and Emma – have launched a fundraising challenge so they can install a bench for Kaz and provide vital funding for Macmillan Cancer Support. Team Bowdler , with the support of loved ones, are planning to walk 477,712 miles – or 955,424,000 steps – which is the distance from Waverton to the moon and back again. They started the challenge on Good Friday and have already raised more than £4,000 – double the amount needed for the bench and memorial plaque.

Only LatAm is cheaper than the UK for investors right now

But Brexit is now a reality – not a risk – so that discount could be set to shrink, says Waverton CIO Despite news from the ONS last week that UK economy fell a 2.9% in January, following growth of 2.1% in December, investors remain confident about the prospects for UK equities in 2021. Headlines of economic decline always grab attention, with two consecutive drops technically signalling a recession. But as lockdown measures hit, the 2.9% drop was better than the 4.9% decline economists had feared and the recent roadmap towards a reopening of the economy is providing investors with confidence that the UK can avoid another recession.

Average speed camera could be installed on Chester collision hotspot

AN average speed camera could be installed on a notorious stretch of road in Chester as safety measures are set to be discussed in an attempt to reduce the amount of collisions. Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner (PCC) David Keane has identified the A41 between Christleton and Waverton as one of four high collision routes in the county to receive a cash injection from the force. The move aims to make the roads safer through speed reduction and reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries. A full feasibility study and site survey would need to be carried out before any scheme is implemented.
