A 44-year-old driver died and two people were injured in a head-on crash on a Vista city street Saturday, sheriff’s officials said.
The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. on Vale Terrace Drive near Williamston Street, just west of Brengle Terrace Park.
Sheriff’s officials said the preliminary investigation indicates a white Mazda was heading east Vale Terrace at “a high rate of speed” when the driver lost control and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Silverado.
The Mazda driver was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name was not released.
