North Korea to skip 2021 Tokyo Olympics over coronavirus concerns

A North Korean website reported on Tuesday that the country will not join in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a website run by the Sports Ministry, officials decided not to participate in the 32nd Olympic Games in order to protect players from the world public health crisis caused by COVID-19.
The decision was made during a meeting on March 25 between Sports Minister Kim Il Guk and the national Olympic Committee.
North Korean state media had previously mentioned the committee meeting, but had not reported on its outcome.
Death toll in Indonesia s massive flood rises over 150

Scores of people have been killed in Indonesia and neighboring East Timor after Cyclone Seroja battered the region over the weekend, officials said on Tuesday.
At least 150 people are confirmed dead so far, with 128 deaths recorded in Indonesia and another 27 in East Timor.
Dozens still missing
Torrential rains triggered massive floods and landslides on Sunday that devastated communities in a remote cluster of islands in eastern Indonesia as well as the half-island nation of East Timor.
The death toll could rise further, with the Indonesian disaster management agency reporting that more than 70 people are still missing.

US asks Russia to explain Ukrainian border provocations

The US State Department called on Russia to refrain from escalating tensions with Ukraine, in comments to reporters on Monday.
Russia has reportedly amassed troops and moved tanks near the Ukrainian border in recent days, as a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine looks increasingly shaky. The movements are the latest point of tension between Russia and the US less than three months after US President Joe Biden took office. We call on Russia to refrain from escalatory actions, State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
Price said the United States would be concerned by any effort by Moscow to intimidate Ukraine, whether it occurred on Russian territory or within Ukraine.
Delhi government announces night curfew in national capital

New Delhi: In view of rising Covid-19 cases, the Delhi government of Tuesday imposed a night curfew in the national capital from 10 pm to 5 am.
The order will be imposed with immediate effect till April 30. However, the government said, there will be no restrictions on traffic movement during the night curfew . People who want to get Covid-19 vaccination will be exempted but will have to get an e-pass. Shopkeepers selling essential goods like groceries, fruits, vegetables, milk, and medicine will be allowed to move after getting an e-pass. Print and electronic media will also be allowed to move only through e-pass, the Delhi government s order stated.
