iTWire Friday, 23 April 2021 17:09 IT workers more likely to be looking for new jobs
Shares
The Elmo Employee Sentiment Report shows that workers in the information, media and technology (IMT) industry are twice as likely to be actively looking for a new job – inside or outside their current employer – than those in other industries.
Furthermore, those IMT workers are twice as likely to be looking for that new role outside their current company (46%) as they are to be looking internally (24%).
More generally, 34% of Australian workers feel burnt-out (compared with 19% among IMT workers), possibly because 25% of them took on more responsibility at work in the first quarter of 2021.
Why is finding a job so hard? It feels especially hard when you know you need one. If you’re a graduating senior and you’ve had no luck on the job market, you’ve come to the right place. Sure, there’s Indeed and Glassdoor–but do you REALLY know how to find the perfect job for you? It’s all about where you look and how you prepare. Here are some tips to finding a job before you graduate….or just in general:
Don’t wait until the last minute
“The most successful job searches start your freshman year,” Pamela Goodman, Assistant Director of Employer Relations at Career Services. Knowing what you want to do is half the battle. Just see what’s out there and get a feel for what an employer in your field is looking for.
