Blue Ridge CTC kicks off new program to help set students on a path for success

MARTINSBURG — A focus always on meeting the needs of students and putting them on a path of success, Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is adding another ingredient to the mix with the Job Scholars program. The Job Scholars program is a non-residential career training grant program through the Department of Labor to help eligible students train for meaningful careers and obtain employment. “This is a demonstration grant that is an attempt to show what community colleges can do with a similar type system (to Job Corps),” said Cynthia Hull-Miller, BRCTC associate dean of career advancement education. “Job Corps is an entity that has a residential component, which we don’t have anything to do with that part of it. We’re taking it from a community college model to implement it in a similar type of student base.”
