VAN WERT – During Saturday night s snowstorm that dumped several inches of snow on Van Wert County, a semi jackknifed on U.S. 30 coming up to the 127 overpasses.
According to EMA Director Rick McCoy, 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled out of the tanks in the embankment. The spilled fuel will have to be cleaned up by hazmat crew.
The driver was not injured.
The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol handled the crash and was assisted by the Van Wert Fire Department, the Van Wert County Sheriff s Office, Hague Towing, the Van Wert EMA.

VAN WERT – Donald O’Day, age 44, was arrested on Tuesday after
fleeing from Van Wert Police, resulting in damages caused to gravestones
at Woodland Cemetery.
According to police, on Dec. 22 at
approximately 3:45 p.m., The Van Wert Police Department received a call
of a possible drug deal witnessed at Walmart parking lot, involving a
red Mustang. The caller gave the temporary license plate number.

A Van Wert County man faces a number of charges related to an attempt to flee and damage to headstones in Woodland Cemetery.
Donald O’Day
Donald O’Day, 44, a resident of Tully Township, was charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a felony of the third degree; operating a vehicle while impaired, his fourth OVI in the past 20 years; and vandalism, a felony of the fifth degree, as well as several traffic citations.
According to the Van Wert Police Department, dispatchers received a call at approximately 3:45 p.m. Tuesday of a possible drug deal in the Walmart parking lot involving a red Ford Mustang. The call also provided a temporary license plate number.

Weaver is wanted in connection with a Van Wert County Common Pleas Court warrant on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the third degree. Local residents’ assistance is needed in locating Weaver.
Those with information on Weaver’s whereabouts can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 419.238.3866 or Crime Stoppers at 419.238.7867. Those who have information about Weaver will not have to give their name or reveal their identity. If the information helps to solve this case, Crime Stoppers will pay those providing the information up to $1,000.
