The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville will pay $375,000 toward the upgrade of information systems at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital.
At the same time this week, counties council deferred a request from Kemptville District Hospital for $1.8 million for an addition that would house a new CT scan machine.

The money for the Perth-Smiths Falls hospital, which will be paid over three years, will allow it to replace its outdated, 30-year-old information system. The hospital, although located in Lanark County, is the go-to hospital for residents in the northern parts of Leeds and Grenville.

Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township is negotiating to buy 10,000 acres from the Ontario government that was assembled in a provincial land bank half a century ago.
The land includes 2,000 acres that the township has pitched as a site for a major manufacturer as part of an Ontario government competition called the Job Site Challenge.
