Local Chef Over The Moon To Reopen Eat-Rite Diner As Fleur STL In May

Originally published on April 22, 2021 6:43 am The historic Eat-Rite Diner in St. Louis is getting another life thanks to an area chef. Tim Eagan is leasing the small eatery on Chouteau Avenue, just south of downtown, with plans to spruce up the place and change the name to Fleur STL. Eagan brings a lengthy resume to the project, spending time as an executive chef for hotels, area restaurants and as a private in-home chef. St. Louis Public Radio’s Wayne Pratt spoke to Eagan about his plans and how long he’s been eyeing the high-profile building. Tim Eagan: I actually saw a post from a friend on social media back in January and it was a picture of it boarded up with the “for lease” sign on the front. And I screenshot, zoomed in and called him the next day. It’s been in the works since mid-January. And then I just signed the lease a couple weeks ago.

St. Louis Public Radio’s Wayne Pratt spoke with Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III about getting people back in the seats and the impact of the past year on the team’s operations. Wayne Pratt: Considering everything we’ve been through, are you excited, nervous (about the home opener)?

Crestwood Hopes Fourth Time s The Charm For Old Mall Site

St. Louis Public Radio The demolition of the old Crestwood mall was completed in 2017, but signs remain on the property. Crestwood officials are hopeful they finally have a redevelopment plan for the old mall site that will stick. The city is in the initial planning and financing stages for a retail, restaurant and housing project on a nearly 50-acre site in the heart of Crestwood along Watson Road. Two big-name local companies are combining on the project: Dierbergs Markets and McBride Homes. The grocery chain wants to build a roughly 70,000-square-foot store, along with other retail and eating establishments. The homebuilder has plans for nearly 80 new houses.
