Ranjeev Puri, State Representative 21st House District, Michigan, serving Canton, Belleville and Van Buren Township, will serve on the panel along with Sunita Doddamani, head of Hate Crimes & Domestic Terrorism Unit, Criminal Trial & Appeals Division, Michigan Department of the Attorney General, and Laura Misumi, executive director, Rising Voices of Asian American Families and managing director, Detroit Action.
The discussion with be moderated by Dr. Shuvra Das, professor or mechanical engineering, University of Detroit Mercy and co-founder, SAMOSA, South Asia Multicultural Organized Student Association, and Parmeshwar (Peter) Coomar, dean of applied sciences and engineering technology division at MCCC.

Apprehended murder suspect accused of shooting, hiding 31-year-old woman

A 32-year-old Van Buren Township man apprehended in Monroe County on Monday is accused of shooting a 31-year-old woman and then hiding her body in a storage unit in the City of Westland, according to a press release issued by the Van Buren Township Police Department.
On May 9 at around 4 p.m., Van Buren police received word that a potential homicide had occurred within the township. It was later determined that a suspect had shot a female in an apartment at the Westlake Apartments, but the female victim s identity was initially unknown and her body had reportedly been moved.

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) The body of a 31-year-old woman has been found in a suburban Detroit storage unit.
Police searched the unit in Westland after learning Sunday that the woman had been shot at a Van Buren Township apartment building and her body later was moved, The Detroit News reported.
A 32-year-old Van Buren Township man was arrested in Monroe County in connection with the slaying.
The woman’s name was not released.

A Van Buren Township man has been arrested in the death of a woman whose body was found in a storage unit, police said Monday.
On Sunday afternoon, township police learned the 31-year-old victim had been shot at the Westlake Apartments and her body was moved, investigators said in a statement.
Officers had the name of a suspect and obtained a search warrant to examine the apartment with help from the Michigan State Police forensic unit. Further investigation led them to Monroe County, where the Sheriff’s Office arrested the 32-year-old suspect, according to the release.
Detectives with a search warrant for a storage unit in Westland found the woman s body.
