The Police Association Victoria says the state government needs to do more in consultation with interested parties after it was revealed police were not involved in a proposed location for Melbourne’s second safe injecting room.
The body’s secretary Wayne Gatt said Victoria Police and those who live in the proposed area should have been consulted.
The Herald Sun earlier this week revealed the government chose across the road from Flinders Street Station as a new preferred location for the safe injecting room.
The area marks the second preferred site to be listed in less than a year following mass community backlash after a proposal it be built next to the Queen Victoria Markets.
