Man says he was threatened with gun while driving I-75
A Hale, Mich., man filed a complaint with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office last week after a South Rockwood teenager in a white Chrysler 300 allegedly threatened him with a handgun while driving southbound in a construction zone on I-75 near Newport Rd.
The complainant, 63, told deputies the suspect drove erratically and then reached down and waved a silver semi-automatic handgun in his direction about 11 a.m. Deputies were able to contact the suspect by phone after the man took a photo of the Chrysler and its license plate that was traced. When deputies questioned the 18-year-old suspect, he said the other driver tried to run him off the freeway after merging into his lane. He told police he did not point the gun at the driver, but only made sure he was aware of it.
