Fate of Marlena s Bistro in Holland remains unknown

MDARD suspended the food license of Marlena s on Thursday, Jan. 21. According to ACHD Environmental Health Supervisor Randy Rapp, he and another county representative attempted to deliver the suspension order to Pavlos-Hackney, who refused it. ACHD sent Marlena’s a warning letter in early December, ordering the restaurant to comply with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services regulations. Later that month, a cease-and-desist letter was issued. A second cease-and-desist letter was sent by MDARD on Dec. 31. Pavlos-Hackney, who represented herself, issued a myriad of overruled objections during the hearing, including accusing the judge of assisting the prosecution. She also called the CDC a “for-profit organization.”
