Climate technology incubator Greentown Labs opens Houston location

The opening comes after the green energy incubator broke ground Feb. 3. “As we celebrate the grand opening of Greentown Labs Houston today, I am glad to see since we broke ground in February, more Houston companies have joined the incredibly diverse group of partners supporting Greentown Labs in our city,” Turner said. “It is a testament to our business community’s commitment to do their part in implementing the Houston Climate Action Plan, address climate change and advance the global energy transition.” In a few weeks time, Greentown Labs Houston will welcome 30 inaugural green energy startup companies and allow them to grow, develop and take their products to market. The facility has the space to allow for 50 startups capable of supporting up to 300 employees, offering prototyping labs, offices and community space.

Volunteers sought for Brays Bayou green space cleanup effort

“There has to be community involvement to make sure it stays clean,” said Brawnwen Ranck, director of philanthropy and engagement with the Bayou Preservation Association. The event comes ahead of the future installation of a segment of trail from Stella Link Road to South Rice Avenue, which is under review and planned for sometime in 2022, according to the Houston Parks Board, the group managing the project. It is part of the board’s $220 million Bayou Greenways 2020 project, a public-private partnership that has been building out 150 miles of new trails and 3,000 acres of green space across the city. The Meyer detention basin will include a new pedestrian bridge over Willow Waterhole, along with the trail, which will utilize the existing drainage weir just south of Brays Bayou that will stretch all the way under Loop 610 to South Rice Avenue for that portion of the project.
