Raymond Terrace M1 Extension Plans Revealed July 28, 2021 Plans for the long-awaited M1 Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace have been unveiled by the state government. As of Wednesday, the Environmental Impact Statement for the project is now on exhibition and includes detailed plans for the four-lane dual carriageway. The 15 kilometre extension includes four access points, linking the existing road network to the M1 at new interchanges at Black Hill, Tarro, Tomago and Raymond Terrace. The project will also feature a 2.6 kilometre viaduct over the the Hunter River and floodplain, as well as new bridge crossings over waterways at Tarro and Raymond Terrace and a new overpass for Masonite Road at Heatherbrae.

Temporary bridge will span Morell River as permanent replacement built

During that time, a temporary traffic light will be installed to help direct vehicles. The temporary bridge is the same one used in Hunter River during the bridge replacement project there over the past few years. The portable sections are being trucked to Morell and reassembled. Crews are now putting steel pilings into the river on which it will sit. The Morell Bridge replacement project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2022.(Brian Higgins/CBC) The area near the bridge is a busy access point to the river for commercial oyster fishers as well as recreational anglers and boaters.

NSW Government survey shores up sand options for Stockton beach

Deputy Premier A solution to the coastal erosion issues plaguing Stockton is significantly closer to being realised with work carried out by NSW Government scientists identifying three sources of offshore sand for beach renourishment. Deputy Premier and Minister responsible for resources John Barilaro today announced details about potentially suitable bodies of sand in the Stockton Bight; one located near the entrance to Newcastle Harbour and two located further east of the beach foreshore at Stockton. “I promised we would deliver the necessary survey work to help find suitable sand in the area and the options announced today will now be reviewed by the City of Newcastle as part of its plan to tackle erosion at Stockton Beach,” Mr Barilaro said.
