First and third Fridays are regular air dates for Downtown Depot with Austin Meek. With the big freeze we experienced this week in Waco, it is understandable Austin and his guest we unable to make it to the studio.
At the very last minute, we reached out to Waco Mayor Dillon Meek and he made time to come in the studio to talk about the state of the city with KWBU s Joe Riley.

Uzin Utz to build second North American manufacturing facility in Waco

WACO, TX â Uzin Utz North America, INC. selected Waco to build its second manufacturing facility in North America.
The $34 million investment will yield a 125,000 square-foot facility that will produce self-leveling compounds, thin-set and grout material for tile installation, and patching compounds.
The facility will also be home to the Uzin Utz training center which will bring nearly 1,000 flooring professionals to the Waco area.
âThe continued growth in the state of Texas, central location of Waco to current raw material suppliers and shared values of the city leadership with our business philosophy made for a natural fit,â stated Matthias Liebert, President of Uzin Utz North America Inc.

According to a press release from Hello Bello, the company is ready to modernize the former Domtar facility in Waco into a state-of-the-art manufacturing center located at 2101 Texas Central Parkway, with construction expected to be completed by 2021 for a summer grand opening.
Hello Bello was co-founded by Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Sean Kane, Jay McGraw and Jennifer Pullen, and launched in February 2019. The new facility will create over 100 new jobs in the region.

WACO, TX â Hello Bello, a brand of baby and family care consumer products co-founded by Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, announced theyâve selected Waco for the company expansion of its first wholly-owned diaper distribution and manufacturing center.
The 312,000 square-feet integrated facility has received local support for the project and expects to create over 100 new jobs in the region.

WACO,TX â A new nonprofit is coming to Central Texas to help local businesses struggling to stay afloat.
Waco was one of 12 cities chosen from across the country, and is the first Texas city to become a Kiva Hub.
Kiva is the largest crowd lending platform in the world, launching as a solution for entrepreneurs in third world countries to gain capital.
They decided to expand their focus to local businesses. In partnership with Startup Waco, businesses will have access to 0% interest fee loans to gain capital and build credit.
