My wife and I receive pension income and a Transition to Retirement (TTR) pension from our Self-Managed Super Fund ($1.6 million) and are aged between 60 and 64. We would like to increase these pensions above what we require and return the extra money to my wifeâs superannuation account as non-concessional contributions. We would like to equalise our holdings, as a matter of fairness, which should be achievable this year. Could this cause a taxation issue? Since the non-concessional contribution is allocated to the tax-free component in the super fund, could we continue to do this in future years, to progressively reduce our mutual taxable component and minimise the death benefit tax? L.S.
