WESTFIELD A person described as an adult woman died after being struck by a train Thursday afternoon in the village.
Few details were available, but Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone and Westfield fire officials confirmed the woman was killed in the incident, which occurred after 3:15 p.m.
County 911 dispatch had received word of a person struck, which sparked a search in the area of the tracks that included North Gale Street and around English and Franklin streets. A body was discovered about 15 minutes after the first call was received, and the coroner was eventually summoned.

A 62-year-old Sherman woman has been identified as the person struck and killed by a train Thursday in the village of Westfield.
An investigation into the accident remains ongoing, the Westfield Police Department said in a news release.
County 911 dispatch had received word around 3:15 p.m. of a person struck, which sparked a search in the area of the tracks that included North Gale Street and around English and Franklin streets. A body was discovered under the train about 15 minutes after the first call was received, and the coroner was eventually summoned.

WESTFIELD, NJ The Westfield Police Department said Tuesday that three men who were charged last week in connection with a Newark murder have also been charged in connection with the theft of a BMW that was stolen from a Westfield driveway the night before.
The Westfield police say that Reynold Henderson, 18, of Irvington, Tyson Armour, 19, of Newark, and Isaad Jackson, 21, also of Newark, were arrested in Irvington at approximately 4:06 p.m. last Tuesday, March 9, by detectives from the New Jersey State Police Motor Vehicle Crimes North Unit.

MINA Deputies stopped a vehicle on Mann Road in the town of Mina for speeding around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The operator was identified as Emilee A. Carlson, 28, of Clymer, and an investigation found her to be impaired by drugs. It was also found that Carlson’s privileges to operate a motor vehicle in New York state had been suspended. Carlson was taken into custody and further investigation found her to be in possession of methamphetamines and concentrated cannabis.
After processing, she was released with appearance tickets. Carlson will appear in Town of Mina Court at a later date to answer charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speed in zone.
