EMMET COUNTY, MICH. Ninety years ago this month, a young ice fisherman became stranded on Lake Michigan when the sheet of ice beneath him broke off from the mainland near Cross Village.
White Shoal Light, a historic offshore lighthouse near the Straits of Mackinac, played a role in the dramatic story that would unfold in the days that followed.
