A 36-year-old man who was arrested in February for drowning his 10-year-old disabled daughter in reservoir in Asakamura, Nara Prefecture, will undergo a psychiatric examination to determine if he is mentally competent to stand trial.
Prosecutors said Kazuhiko Tokuya, a chef from Uda in Nara Prefecture, will undergo tests until June 29, Fuji TV reported Wednesday. Police said that after his arrest, Tokuya admitted to killing his daughter Nanako and told them he had planned to kill himself, but couldn’t go through with it, Fuji TV reported. According to police, Tokuya went to the special needs school that his daughter attends, on the afternoon of Friday Feb 22 and told a school official that he had come to pick her up and take her to visit her grandmother, although Nanako’s mother told police later she knew nothin
