OCEAN PINES, Md. – The Worcester County Veterans Memorial committee is preparing to oversee the event which will welcome “The Wall that Heals.” It’s a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
This year, it will be hosted right here on the Eastern shore in April. The Worcester County Veterans Memorial committee overseeing the event is looking for volunteers who will each be trained to guide visitors through the exhibit. The event will honor the lives of those who served in Vietnam.
Leaders of this event say, this area has a large showing of patriotism and they’re excited to be able to host this event. Marie Gilmore, President of the Worcester County Veterans Memorial Foundation says, “Well this means everything to us. This is the ultimate show of respect for those who served in Vietnam.” She also states, “So I think bringing the wall to the Eastern shore was a wonderful, wonderful gift for us.”
