Creation of DOFil will help protect Filipinos abroad, says Bong Go as he demanded justice for murdered OFW in Abu Dhabi and offered help to the family
Senator Christopher Bong Go expressed that his proposed measure creating the Department of Overseas Filipinos will be acted upon by the Senate soon to provide better services, and further protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipinos abroad. I m not losing hope, Go said in an interview done after he provided assistance to Batasan TODA Members in Quezon City on Wednesday, February 3.
The Senator explained that the Senate Bill No. 1949, otherwise known as the Department of Overseas Filipinos (DOFil) Act of 2020, has been referred back to the Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development after the Senate Committee on Rules gave the green light for committee deliberations.

Minister of Labour Nimal Siripala de Silva says the government is taking necessary steps to grant an allowance of Rs 100,000 to returning Sri Lankan expatriates who have lost their jobs.
Speaking further, he said the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has been directed to provide such returnees, who plan to stay in Sri Lanka, with an interest-free loan of Rs 50,000 in order to set up a business here.
We are already granting an allowance of Rs 50,000 to returning expatriates through the Foreign Employment Bureau, however, I have given instructions to increase the amount to 100,000,” he said.

Kathmandu, Feb 2 (PTI) Four Indians, including three women, have been arrested in Nepal for allegedly sending Nepali labourers to Canada for jobs illegally via India, officials said.
Acting on a tip off, a special team from the Department of Foreign Employment on Monday raided a local Tripple Star Manpower Company located on the outskirts of Kathmandu.
The officials detained Kaur Mannat (45) Farman Raban (24), Manpreet Kar (18) and Sonu Kumar (46), hailing from Delhi.
